  1. Seriously though. You people do realize that natural disasters happen in other parts of the country too don't you? Hurricanes decimate parts of the gulf coast and florida, tornados rip through the midwest and wildfires scorch huge patches in the west. All of this happens EVERY year, without fail.
Or is it just that it only matters when it happens in NYC.

  3. @ David:

Yes,we New Yorkers are stronger, smarter, faster, and more important than you dingbat redneck welfare queens in those walmart infested "red" states *sarcasm*

Seriously,if that is all you are getting based on that article you obviously lack the marbles needed to have a productive discussion like any normal, intelligent, functioning adult. The hatred some of you people have for our city is beyond petty and nauseating.

  5. Prince William and Prince Harry did NOT write that letter. I bet they didn't even read it.

The UK royal family have done NOTHING for the gay community in their entire history. NOTHING. Even Diana who claimed to support us did nothing and gave NONE of her massive fortune when she died. She just used us to get media attention when she was trying to get more media attention than Charles to piss him off. She had no genuine feelings for the gay community. Diana was totally self absorbed and self serving.

The royal family and the Conservative Party are part of the UK establishment and they HATE gay people and have done everything they can over the years to stigmatize us and ensure gay people do not achieve equality.

I find it insulting that the two princes now claim to support us ! It is disgusting.

  6. There is no denying that Egyptian women are at great risk of random sexual fondling (as if the assailants think that's a compliment) outright brutal assault and possibly death at a random rapist's will. But something just doesn't "smell" right about this sensational headline. 300 men go after 3 women in the midst of 1,000's of people who are protesting for democracy's sake against Morsy's Presidential power grab, first off. Then, these 3 victims almost miraculously make the trek through the midst of a vast angry crowd to a safe haven just at the moment that upstanding citizens beat with sticks and finally repel the determined assaulters? God forbid (well, I do not believe in God even though I still capitalize the moniker in standard English usage) any of us should find ourselves in such a hellish scene as described, but this story reminds me of the Kuwaiti stories about premature infants torn from their incubators during the first Iraq War in the early 1990's. Maybe I'm a dense, insensitive pig for being skeptical; but really, 300 perpetrators chased down these victims only to be stopped by a closed gate and a sudden surge of outraged fellow democratically minded protestors? Really? Sounds like the story of Sodom & Gomorrah in the fervor with which these 300 men continued to pursue these 3 hapless women. The story strains credulity.

  8. @Icebloo: I have heard that the Queen Mum was truly supportive of gays. At her age, of course, it didn't make any real difference.

  9. I am happy to read that the case of Marsha P. Johnson's death may be reopened. Marsha was right there on the front lines of LGBT battles for civil rights from the beginning. Maybe Marsha can finally rest in peace.
