Family Research Council Dumps UPS for Cutting Funding to the Anti-Gay Boy Scouts

United Parcel Service will have a lighter load of hate this holiday season as Tony Perkins' Family Research Council announced that they will stop using UPS because they dumped the Boy Scouts over its discriminatory anti-gay policies.

T_perkinsWrites the FRC:

In this busy shipping season, UPS will have at least one less customer to worry about: FRC. After 11 years as our official carrier, FRC is suspending its contract with UPS for openly discriminating against the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). In November, company executives announced that they would no longer support organizations that refuse to bow to their politically correct view of homosexuality. Although Vice President Kristen Patrella insisted UPS's decision didn't specifically target the Scouts, theirs was the only group affected. UPS promised to end its charitable donations to the Scouts "until gay Scout leaders are welcome within the organization."

According to most reports, the shipping giant altered its policy after an online petition drive at the liberal website,, encouraged companies to end their BSA partnerships. But in the end, the 83,000 signatures it collected is a drop in the ocean compared to the 1,074,775 Americans who volunteered with a troop last year -- or the 2.7 million boys who were actual members of the Boy Scouts. Yet they, the overwhelming majority, are the ones for whom UPS has shown the greatest contempt -- and whose valuable activities will suffer as a result.

NYC Council Speaker Christine Quinn on Scalia: 'Don't Compare Me to a Murderer Because I'm a Lesbian' - VIDEO

NYC City Council Speaker Christine Quinn appeared on MSNBC's Hardball last night in a segment about Scotus Justice Antonin Scalia's remarks comparing homosexuality and murder.

Quinn_matthewsQuinn denounced Scalia:

"The Justice should apologize...It's offensive. Sexual orientation is who we are as people. It's how we're created if we're LGBT. And to compare that even in a way you want to say was some philosophical exercise to a heinous horrible crime of murder. It's just wrong. He can say it's a slip of the tongue. Just apologize. But don't compare me to a murderer because I'm a lesbian. Just don't do it. It's wrong."

Added Quinn: “My father always said, 'It’s nice to be nice.' And it is. And you should treat other human beings even if you disagree with them, even if you dislike who they are, in a respectful way. The justice was disrespectful to me and my family. And that doesn't further my understanding him better, or him understanding me better."

Wedding Portrait: Dan Savage and Terry Miller

From Sunday's kick-off to marriage equality in Washington state.

Nate Gowdy of the Seattle Gay News writes us:

"I had the opportunity to put together a team of four photographers to host a photobooth for just about each of the 138 just-married couples at Seattle City Hall on Sunday, Dec. 9. Here's my shot of Dan Savage and Terry Miller -- If you keep clicking through, there are 75 images in all. While my team took formals I got to roam around inside the lobby after all other media was booted after half an hour, so there are some shots you won't find anywhere else."

Lindsey Graham, Joe Lieberman, and John McCain Sound Off on Same-Sex Marriage: VIDEO

Senators John McCain, Joe Lieberman, and Lindsey Graham appeared were interviewed by Piers Morgan last night about the right of gay people to marry.

After comparing same-sex marriage to polygamy, Graham compared the marriage equality debate to the civil war:

Can — can I suggest this? Slavery was outlawed by a Constitutional amendment. Go watch “Lincoln,” a great movie. The people decided. The question for us is who should decide these things? Should it be a handful of judges or should it be the people themselves? And I come out on the side of the people themselves. Different people will look at it differently. But slavery was outlawed by a Constitutional amendment. If you want to propose a Constitutional amendment legalizing same-sex marriage and it passes, that’s the law of the land.
