'There are no homosexuals in Uganda,' our leaders said not too long ago. They cannot say that now. They say I am evil. They say my love is illegal. RoadObama cites 'DADT' repeal as example of why he's restrained on executive orders: "There were advocates in the LGBT community who were furious at me, saying, 'Why don't you just sign with a pen ordering the Pentagon to do this?' And my argument was that we could build a coalition to get this done, that having the Pentagon on our side and having them work through that process so that they felt confident they could continue to carry out their missions effectively would make it last and make it work for the brave men and women, gays and lesbians, who were serving not just now but in the future."

  3. RE Mr. Obama's statement about an executive order and DADT. First, he misrepresents what was being asked of him: NO ONE believed that ordering a freeze on discharges was ENOUGH. It was only to stop ANY MORE gay soldiers being kicked to the curb while the battle for legislative repeal continued. With his refusal, some 700 more were needlessly discharged on his watch.

Second, DOES THE PRESIDENTIAL LEFT HAND NOT KNOW WHAT ITS RIGHT HAND HAS DONE???? His assertion that he ONLY wanted the legislation because, quote, emphasis mine, “it's NOT going to be reversed by a future president. It is something that will be long lasting and sturdier and more stable… for the brave men and women, gays and lesbians, who were serving not just now but in the future” contradicts the FACT that—even after repeal was implemented in September 2011—HIS Department of Justice continued to fight the lower court’s ruling in the Log Cabin case that such discrimination by the military was unconstitutional—and that they SUCCEEDED in getting the Circuit Court to reverse it such that the Court’s ruling ITSELF noted that the ban legally COULD be brought back in the future. By HIS Administration’s refusing to let the lower court’s ruling stand, NOTHING legally protects brave gays and lesbians from being discharged in the future.

    That's worth repeating.

  5. @ MICHAEL BEDWELL -- you manage to write hateful nonsense in a way that is so over-wrought that I can't even make enough sense of it to refute it.

  6. @ Bob: I wrote historical facts not "nonsense." Feel free to try to prove them wrong. As for your histrionic translation of ANY dissent from the President's claims as "hateful," I'm sorry I'm not licensed to treat hallucinations.

  8. MB - You're right, it's spin as usual; but there's no reasoning with people determined to delude themselves.
