Yeah, try telling that to Jenna Miscavige Hill,
author of Beyond Belief: My Secret Life Inside Scientology and My Harrowing Escape
    which actually publishes tomorrow

  2. UFFDA says

Wow, both of these ads are extremely good, like an ad for my earlier complaint and generaly carrying on about conformity. Then it reads “Scientology” and…yuk, another box to climb into. Take the label off though and, like the Apple ad, it’s a good message.

  3. Houndentenor says

No, it’s not a good ad. It reconfirms the American blight known as “I believe it so it’s true”. Truth requires evidence and reason, not believing in a religion based on a bad science fiction novel.

  4. Bryan says

lost my sh*t when they actually put Scientology after all those incredibly anti-Scientology values. Knowledge? ‘YES.’ Medical knowledge? ‘THE ALIENS WILL HEAL US.’

  5. TampaZeke says

Keep in mind that this is one of the network stations that rejected THREE different United Church of Christ ads at three different times because they were considered “controversial” for mentioning that they don’t turn ANYONE away, including GLBT people. The network also claimed that they don’t take religious ads even though they aired Mormon ads and Methodist ads. And to this very day they’ve never been held accountable.

  6. Icebloo says

If these religions can afford to pay for such expensive commercials why aren’t they paying any taxes and contributing to society positively ?

It’s time to TAX ALL RELIGIONS on their income and investments.

  7. UFFDA says

Consider this, that Scientology may be in the early stages of a major planetary takeover – just like Christianity was in AD 200 or so (which at that time with highly improbable). So let’s not make martyrs of them. I don’t really know what they believe but we don’t need anything close to “virgin birth, atonement or original sin” – the dumbest (and yet undeniably compelling) ideas to ever inhabit the human head on a global scale. Then there’s Islam, dumber yet.

So can anyone tell me what some of their basic beliefs are? I can’t stand reading about it.

  8. Onnyjay says

Skyentologists are even crazier than Mormons, and that’s quite an achievement. Oddly enough, both are rabidly homophobic, which raises the obvious question, how does Tom Cruise manage to stay out of one of the Skyentology lockups? Oh, yeah, lots and lots and lots of money.

  9. Diogenes Arktos says

@Uffda: Don’t bother reading anything about them. Just think very egregiously bad science fiction with an anti-reality overlay that the Religious Right will never reach. They are on a major downward spiral in membership – they may have fewer memebers than NOM (just kidding). You need megamoney to be of any worth to them. Too many people are tired of being bled to death and are leaving no matter the cost.
