RoadWhat does Hillary Clinton's marriage equality statement portend? "At minimum it signals she will end up getting involved in politics this year — far more extensively than the signals about her taking time off had indicated. That seems likely to include campaigning in the Massachusetts Senate race for the special election to fill John Kerry’s seat, as well as for longtime Clinton ally Terry McAuliffe in the Virginia governor’s race – and even someone like Barbara Buono in New Jersey in her race against popular Republican incumbent Chris Christie."

  1. I really don't like Maggie Gallagher, but she does look prettier than normal in that pic.

  2. Hillary's statement also makes it very clear - from this day forth, any and all serious Democratic candidates for Prez will have to be on board for Equality.

it'll be a fight to Out-Equality each other. not bad, eh?

  3. Maggie is at the pig trough filling up.

I thought Phyllis dried up and blew away a long time ago. She's so old, she must have one foot in the gave and the other one on a banana peel.

  4. Given that Maggie Gallagher is visible in satellite photos and her movements tracked by seismograph, she can't be THAT hard to find!

OK, sorry, that was mean. She just brings it out in me.

Isn't her son involved in musical theater or something like that? Maybe she's have a Rob Portman moment of her own? Worth a thought. And I can think of few who would deserve such a life lesson more.

And speaking of, Phyllis Schlafly DOES have a gay son, though he's apparently still tied to her..... tentacles? Somehow I can't picture her with apron strings. Her statement about Portman says far more about her than it does him.

  5. @John in Houston

LOL...You were raised to be a gentleman, and overly generous. That woman in that photo isn't pretty. But it's all right. Sometimes I have a couple of shots on my lunch break also. Vodka makes the world prettier--and best of all, most folks can't smell it.

  6. if Gallagher isn't having a Portman-moment, her cohort Brian Brown is destined to, one day. With eight children of his own, it's preposterously unlikely that they're all straight.

  7. Yikes! Someone will have Brian Brown as a father-in-law. Now that's a scary thought.

  9. Phyllis Schafly...missy is a pot calling a kettle black. She is the original hetero who is unclear on the concept of familial love

  10. I hereby denouce Phyllis Schafley as stupid and dumb.

  11. Part of me thinks Maggie Gallagher is just smarmy enough to have jumped the anti-gay marriage ship like a rat when she realized it's a losing fight. Somehow I think her 'cause' isn't as important as her own ego.

  12. Who the hell cares where Maggie Gallagher is?

  13. Bruce Bawer, really? His book was written in 1993, and he then fled the US to live in Europe (ultimately Norway) where he wrote hateful, conservative crap about the decline of European society, crap that a Norwegian mass killer said influenced him to do what he did. I think that Bawer lost his credibility to comment on gay culture – or modern culture – a long time ago.

  14. "...where he wrote hateful, conservative crap about the decline of European society, crap that a Norwegian mass killer said influenced him to do what he did."

Pejsek, do you know whether Bawer ever uses the alias Rick or David Herne?

  15. Phyllis Schlafly has a gay son. There's no trace of the parallel in her totally impersonal discussion of Rob Portman though. She gets some facts wrong too, like failing to acknowledge Section 3 of DOMA and undercounting states with same-sex marriage. I've recently come aware that ignoring Section 3 or misrepresenting it as enforcing states' rights is common in religious right media.

  16. Ian Somerhalder can sell me anything. I watch Vampire Diaries because of him not because of the stellar acting of any of the cast members.

  17. Phyllis Schlafly has never let concern for her gay son get in the way of her bigotry.

  18. Look at him..., is that a face of an actor who is afraid of being upstaged by a puppy?! LOL
Tom Hardy & Noomi Rapace making two movies together back to back/at the same time? Hmmmm...

Hey, gurl, can I have Mr. Rapace, then? LOL

  24. Photographing Maggie from above reduces the impact of her quadruple chins. I wish Towleroad would use a more appropriate pic from its files.

  25. You know, "stupid" and "dumb" are two of the words that come to mind when I hear the name Phyllis Schlafley.
