RoadHow to Survive a Plague director and Kalamazoo College alum David France returns to his alma mater and praises the changes that city has gone through: "The city itself was a place where it was dangerous to walk as a gay person in the streets of most neighborhoods, many neighborhoods, in Kalamazoo, and even dangerous at times on campus. There were repeated acts of violence. There wasn’t the consciousness among the administration and the school, and the city itself, for how to counter that or what to do to change that kind of culture. It’s taken a concerted effort over the last couple decades, but it’s really paid off. I think Kalamazoo is now a model for how a community can turn around and go from one extreme to full acceptance." is producing Britney Spears' next album.

CruzRoadOrlando Cruz speaks out about Jason Collins: “Coming out does not make him less of a man because he is a great athlete,” explained Cruz. “He is living the dream of every high school kid who wants to play basketball. RoadFormer Dallas Cowboy Tony Casillas says he played with gay players in the 90's: “I know that I played with homosexual players and I knew this when I was playing. There’s a certain amount of intimacy in the locker room, I’m not talking in a personal way, but intimacy as far as working hard and being that close together, as far as accomplishing something on the football field. The problem is this society. That’s why I applaud Jason Collins for coming out. Being a professional athlete people expect you have this shield around you where you can’t pretty much show your true nature, if you will, and you’re feelings and I think for him to be able to do that — I think there may be a domino effect with this."

  1. It's 2013 - there are no excuses to just "not know/understand" issues of human rights. confused about "what trans is?"

get onto freakin' youtube, and watch the COUNTLESS videos of transgendered/transitioning people talking about their lives, their experiences, and what they face each day. There are so many videos where trans people and their families make their case in the clearest and simplest ways. COME ON, already. No excuses to "not understand". At this point it's just willful ignorance.

  2. Marriage equality can be expected to produce divorce equality, too. Roughly half of hetero marriages fall apart and that's with huge amounts of social, economic and legal support. We mustn't allow ourselves to think that Our Own will be less prone to the same mistakes, mishaps, mismatches and human faults as our hetero counterparts. Same sex couples with years/decades of commitment and necessary compromises under often extremely bad odds probably have the best chances of making enduring marriages. Once the rhetoric gives way to realism, things will be clearer. Despite the unpopularity of the facts, queer people are neither better no worse overall at managing relationships.

  3. I couldn't imagine being with Jason Collins, a man who is 7 feet tall. It would take hours for my tongue to travel his entire body. Cruz I could complete in 20 minutes. But I love 'em both.

  4. Well, that "My Fair Wedding" divorce is bound to answer some new questions. You're a wedded gay couple in a ten year relationship on the rocks who decide to contract a surrogate to carry your twins and then decide you can't stand each other before the twins are born and both want custody. The thing is children aren't pets and you can't just say "both take one".
