Pentatonix Covers Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' 'Can't Hold Us': VIDEO

Presenting the first track from their in-progress album PTX: Vol. 2, a cappella group Pentatonix tackles Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' 'Can't Hold Us.' While lacking in the party ships, crowd-surfing, and patriotic camels of the original, the cover keeps the toe-tapping high-energy beat thanks in no small part to Kevin “K.O.” Olusola's beatboxing skills. You can watch both videos - Pentatonix's cover and Macklemore's original - AFTER THE JUMP...

  1. Generally, I find Pentatonix to be somewhat decently talented. This sounds as if it had been auto-tuned into the stratosphere. Did not like.

  2. It's cute, but the original song gives me goosebumps.

  3. Not a very "a cappella" version. Still prefer the original by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.

  4. @Phoenix Sorry, but it is "a cappella," all those effects you hear are their voices (specifically, Kevin[black guy] and Avi [guy with facial hair]).

  5. It's supposed to be a cappella Jake... I'm not sure you'd want to go betting that it actually is. Some of their earlier videos were definitely all a cappella... but some of their more recent ones have certainly used auto tune and sound effects to a certain point. (That's not to take away any of the talent of Kevin and Avi in making their still-there sound effects. They're the two most talented people in the group IMO.)
