Senator Marco Rubio Headlining Anti-Gay Fundraiser

Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) is headlining a fundraiser on November 16 for the virulently anti-gay group Florida Family Policy Council which is led by John Stemberger. The dinner will also honor Mat Staver, the head of the radically conservative legal group Liberty Counsel.

Stemberger, as we have reported, spearheaded Trail Life USA, an anti-gay alternative to the Boy Scouts, and, as Right Wing Watch notes, has said that being gay is an “artificial, social construct” that is “dangerous," warned that the Boy Scouts will experience widespread sexual abuse as a result of including gay members under the age of eighteen, and alleged that affirming LGBT youth is "tantamount to abuse."

Adds RWW: "Stemberger and Staver are far outside of the mainstream, but with Rubio preparing for a possible presidential run in 2016 he may use this event, much like his speech at the Values Voter Summit, to soothe any doubts about his right-wing credentials."

  2. Welcome to the new Republican Party. Same as the old Republican Party.

  3. It's funny how the leading latino GOP hopefuls are all white cubans. Tell me if I'm wrong, but it seems like other latinos have no love for them and see them as a group that thinks its better than other latinos. Rubio might do well in Florida, but I don't know if he'd do too well with mexicans in texas and LA or dominincans in ny and nj.
But, then again, Texas elected Cruz and he's Cuban too.

  4. I know nothing about the 2 people pictured with Rubio. But the photo on the right looks as if might set off the gaydar.

  6. What do you expect from a Mormon who became a Catholic who became a Republican Senator?

  7. Is it wrong to see the headliners on the poster in a steamy threesome. Fisting included or course. Religious freaks, freakin!

  8. @WOODY You are absolutely correct. Most Latinos despise Cubans because Cubans do look down on other Latinos as inferior to Cubans. In general, Cubans are arrogant, racist and virulently right-wing. The one thing that irks ALL Latinos who are not Cuban is that since the 1960's, the U.S. has had a fixed policy that any Cuban national who sets foot on U.S. territory, even if it is a sandbar offshore, is automatically granted asylum and is guaranteed U.S. residency and a fast-track to U.S. citizenship. No other immigrant group in the world is accorded this privilege.

  9. Yikes! Check out the pic of Eric Metaxas in that ad. There hasn't been a queen that big since the coronation of Elizabeth II in 1953.

  10. And now it's clear that Rubio is a self-loathing closet queen.

We eagerly await the first hustler to spill.

  11. The problem is he has to be to the right of Rick Santorum in order to win the nomination.

  12. That Metaxas guy is both a martyr AND a spy?!?

I wonder if he knows where to find manbearpig.

  13. I have always found it interesting that despite growing up in Florida , there are no beach or swimsuit pics of Rubio in circulation.
