Japan's first gay magazine Barazoku is being revived by a pornographer and a drag queen.
The magazine folded six months ago after circulation plummeted from 30,000 to 3,000.
Its publisher “attributed the slump to the spread of homosexual Internet sites, a general decline in print media and the saturation of copycat magazines.”
The pornographer attempting the revival is known for his involvement in straight porn. “The revival edition will feature a conversation with Akihiro Miwa, 69, Japan's premier female impersonator, and a profile of a Tokyo neighborhood dotted with some 100 gay bars.”
