300 is a new film described as “a ferocious retelling of the ancient Battle of Thermopylae” in a behind-the-scenes segment offered up on Apple’s website. It’s based on a graphic novel by Frank Miller.
This may be the gayest costuming since Alexander — more hot muscled warriors in skimpy codpieces (and some of the filmmakers aren’t bad either). If the Persians aren’t intimidated by the Spartans’ realistic fighting tactics perhaps they’ll be frightened off by their heavily made-up abs.
ADDENDUM: More on this at Magmozine (and just as a p.s. — there is a comment from the Magmozine ed. that I appropriated news of this film here from their site. I just want to say I was extremely busy yesterday and several folks sent me links to 300, so, I wasn’t trying to deny credit to Magmozine, a site which I really respect. Besides, their coverage of this is more thorough than mine, so check it out.)
