Conservationists in Congo today released the first-ever photographs taken in the wild of the Okapi, a shy deer-like animal not seen in its natural habitat for 50 years. The Okapi is closely related to the giraffe, although it bears markings on its legs that resemble a zebra.
Okapis can be found in many zoos, but Congo's civil war and poachers have caused their numbers to dwindle.
