Male stripper movies now appear to be a genre…not that this is a bad thing. Adding competition for the upcoming Magic Mike XXL is Chocolate City, which tells the story of a poor college kid who turns to stripping to help make ends meet, but has to figure out how to keep his new job quiet from his mother and girlfriend.
A pretty boilerplate plot and you can see the narrative beats coming from a mile away, but it can't be worse than the original Magic Mike's surprisingly sex-negative attitudes (see: virtually every line out of Cody Horn's mouth). Besides, how can one say no to another film full of super-hot male strippers?
