Donald Trump called in to MSNBC's Morning Joe this morning to give his appraisal of last night's Democratic presidential debate.
Speaking of Hillary Clinton's widely lauded performance, Trump said, “She did what she had to do.”
Like her or not, Hillary did what she had to do in the debate last night—get through it. Her opponents were very gentle and soft!

He went on to say that, “A couple of them shouldn't have been up there,” presumably referencing Jim Webb and Lincoln Chafee. Of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders' performance, Trump said, “Bernie, for the sake of a good sound byte, let [Hillary] off the hook.” Trump was referring to the controversy surrounding Hillary Clinton's emails. During the debate last night Sanders said, “The American people are sick and tired of hearing about [Hillary's] damn emails.”
Overall, Trump characterized the #DemDebate as a “Very calm, very nice, very easy debate.” Trump also said that he had to restrain himself while live tweeting the debate: “I wanted to go off so badly.”
