Gus Kenworthy is tackling gay stereotypes in a new video created with Teen Vogue.
Kenworthy and Teen Vogue‘s Phillip Picardi joined forces to discuss the 8 things you should never say to your gay friends. On the list? Classic tropes like “You don't really seem gay” and “Gay guys love me” along with some that might seem more innocuous such as, “How did you come out?” As Picardi points out, “A lot of people's coming out stories might be super personal and actually might be really sad.” Kenworthy added, “You're not asking personal questions back to the people who are asking these questions…You're not like, ‘When did you lose your virginity?'”
As for the questions that Kenworthy had heard the most, those would be “Are you sure you're gay” and “You should meet my other gay friend.”
