There have already been countless covers, both serious and comedic, of Adele's mega-hit “Hello.” One you will definitely want to watch is this music video that imagines the song as being about a lost lesbian romance.
As The Huffington Post reports, a YouTuber by the name of Cleber Fleith has paired a music video by filmmaker Sal Bardo for band Paper Ring's track “Great Escape” with a “Hello” cover by Alice Olivia to create a tragic story about the confines of the closet.
In the video, an older woman wakes up next to her husband in bed, who still sleeps. She packs up a suitcase, jettisons her wedding ring, and trudges through the snow to meet her lesbian lover from years past. Along the way, the main woman recalls happy days together with her love “when they were younger.” But, in a fateful turn, the sequence turns out to have been nothing more than a dream of what life might be like if she were to leave her husband, something she ultimately does not do.
