Earlier this month, organizers announced that the theme for this year’s NYC is ‘Equality Needs You’.
And now the DJs have been announced for this year’s NYC Pride Dance on the Pier on Sunday, June 26:
The 2016 Dance on the Pier line-up includes Alain Jackinsky (Montreal), Hoxton Whores (London), Honey Soundsystem (San Francisco), and Ben Baker (New York). A spectacular fireworks display over the Hudson River will continue to bring the Dance to a close at 10pm.
“Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Dance with this awesome DJ talent ensures another legendary event for our 7,500+ guests,” said Jose Ramos, NYC Pride Dance on the Pier Director, “We look forward to once again bringing NYC the biggest dance party of Pride weekend.”
Since 1986, Dance on the Pier has been NYC Pride’s largest fundraiser, supporting iconic LGBT Pride events like the March, Rally, and PrideFest. The Dance is also the grand finale of a full weekend of parties produced by NYC Pride, including Fantasy, VIP Rooftop Party, Teaze, Graffiti, and Femme Fatale. Along with Dance on the Pier, these events raise critical funds to support the organization’s work, including the disbursement of more than $45,000 annually in working grants for smaller LGBT non-profits.
Doors will open earlier this year, according to organizers. Tickets are available here.
Said organizer’s about the 2016 theme:
“We’re getting closer, but we aren’t there yet. Just ask the bisexual homeless youth on the Christopher Street Pier, the trans worker trying to achieve the American dream, or the gay refugee escaping certain death in his war torn homeland. The Supreme Court’s affirmation of marriage equality marked progress in the national and worldwide LGBT movement, but it was not a finish line. Equality needs you now more than ever. In 2016, we are making sure that some of the world’s largest and most visible LGBT events are helping to amplify our continued fight. EQUALITY NEEDS YOU, and you can answer the call. Join us for NYC Pride 2016.”
