Surfing with Sharks

Shark2

In New Smyrna Beach, Florida, a photographer shooting surfers serendipitously captured a spinner shark leaping from the waves. One more shot, AFTER THE JUMP...

  1. Wow, New Smyrna beach is also the nude gay beach area when you drive all the way to the end of the national park. Fun place.

  2. not so sure i'd let my ten hang at that gay nude beach if there's feeders like that one around.

  3. Its amazing, but we really do look like struggling food to them when we play in the water. And thats even before we stripp-off!!!!!!!!!

  4. I don't think spinner sharks are a particular threat to humans. Still, the panhandle is teeming with sharks. I discovered how hard it truly is to run in waist-deep water a couple years ago when a big black shadow came swimming my way. Seriously, it's like jumping into a shark tank down there.

  5. Uh. HELL NO. That is all I can say.

  6. Clever photoshopping - the light source on the shark shifts, dramatically, during the sequence of photos, but not on the surfboard rider. Also, the boogie-boarder inexplicably disappears from the last few shots.

  7. Well DUH David B! He was eaten!

  8. Surfing with sharks. See, that's why I was always afraid of "workin'" white trade....crazy, honey.

  9. Oh they are not so bad, just smack them on the snout when they grab a hold of you. I mean the surfers. The sharks? Run Forrest Run!

  10. LOL@DAVEFROMTAMPA,

I don't know, DAVE. The few times I was approached by what trade, I swear I heard the "Theme from JAWS" in the background. Don't get wrong, I've crossed the race barrier a couple of times, but they were regular gay guys. I got scared when rough white trade came at me--always made me think of Jeffrey Dahmer. I always imagined the Philadelphia Inquirer's headline, "Middle-aged Black Queen Found Sliced To Pieces. No Forced Entry...into the apartment, that is."

'course, now, I'd take anything I could get. As my beloved Vivien Leigh said in "The Roman Spring of Mrs Stone"--"a cut throad would be a convenience now."

  11. "a cut throat"

well, then again, maybe a "throad" is something you find on aging queens?

  12. Photoshop was the first thing I thought of too, but it's awfully good if that.

  13. I recommend the documentary 'Sharkwater'. It is narrated by a *hot* marine biologist who debunks some myths about sharks. The fact is, we are not on the menu for sharks. When they do bite a human, it is because they have mistaken us for smaller prey. That surfer is probably pretty safe on his board.

  14. FUCK. THAT. Sharks need their personal space too.

That said, I do LOVE a redhead. Yum!
