Gay Rugby Player Gareth Thomas to Appear on Ellen on Tuesday; Mickey Rourke Says He'll Remove Two Front Teeth to Play Him

Thomas

Gay Welsh rugby icon Gareth Thomas is set to appear on Ellen on Tuesday, which is, I believe, his first TV interview stateside.

Rourke Mickey Rourke, who has been talking up playing Thomas for a film biopic seems ready to make every sacrifice, including his two front teeth.

Thomas’ agent, Emanuele Palladino, tells Britain’s Daily Express, “Mickey intends to get as close to the character as he can. He is going to get rid of his two front teeth - he will be taking them out.”

In a 2006 interview with the BBC, Thomas discussed the loss of his teeth

"John Davies (the Llanelli Scarlets prop) knocked one of them out - I'm not happy with that, that was a cheap shot! - and the other one... I haven't got a clue, but that was rugby again....[I'll] Never [get a clear gumshield]! Because the only time I've ever had white teeth is when I've got a white gumshield in, so there's not a hope in hell of me changing that!"

Thomas came out of the closet in December 2009, making him one of the few professional athletes in the world to do so.

  1. So filmmakers can digitally remove Gary Sinise's leg for Forest Gump but they can't paint-out a couple of teeth? Time for a reality check, idiot.

  2. I have a favor to ask of everyone who reports on Mickey Rourke portraying Gareth Thomas in a biopic. Please remember to mention that Gareth is much prettier, even in that pic above.

  3. Maybe MIckey Rourke from 20 years ago.....Gareth Thomas is a HOT man! I do not believe any degree of transformation will make Rourke even closely resemble thomas.

  4. I'm still shocked by this. Gareth is what 6Ft 4? And is like only 35. And Rourke was barely taller the Tomei who is hardly a tall lady. He is also in his 50's.

    How odd.

  5. A) As pointed out about Mickey Rourke is 50 and Gareth Thomas is 35. A Biopic would require a person to likely play Gareth from his teens, 20's, and 30's depending on the script.

    B) While Thomas's teeth have been knocked out he does have some kind of false teeth so there is no reason for any actor to pull their own teeth.

    C) Rourke is NEVER going to play Thomas (see A)

  6. Dear forum. I'd like to represent those who disagree. I find neither of these men sexually attractive at all, but in a ranking Rourke is Tony Danza to Thomas's Matt LeBlanc.

And please, stop quoting age as an issue. Neither of them looks a day under 60.

  7. Something no one is talking about is that this would be ANOTHER Gay movie played by a st8 man. Will any Gay actor (and I Do know a few that would play the part well) get a good role in Hollywood?????????

  8. Oh come now Alan, lets not be unreasonable! We don't need a gay actor to play a gay role, just like we don't need black actors to play black role. Blackface is very convincing and used by famous white actors such as Denzel Washington and Will Smith. And we all know that since the Shakespearean tradition of men playing the woman's role, men have done a great job playing women in modern cinema. Drag queens such as Nicole Kidman are living examples of this.

They shouldn't stop at just a couple of teeth.

  10. Uhm

    Ian Roberts

Gay, tall, former rugby player, actor (though usually henchman of the bad guy roles), ausie accent (not a stretch with a dialect coach to go britt)

  11. Ian Roberts yes but he isn a great actor.

Why hasn't any of the media mentioned the AGE issue? Or the height issue? Or the fact that Rourke has a funny face from surgery?? How will he make his face smooth like Thomas's? This is soo peculiar!

  12. Mickey Rourke was born in 1952
Gareth Thomas was born in 1974.

  13. This is one movie that i just cannot afford to see, since Gareth is one of my most reliable sexual stimulants. If Mickey Rourke replaced Gareth in my head for a millisecond, all wood would be hopelessly lost. That would be like trying to get off watching Jim Carrey doing Fire Marshall Bill, eww.
