1. Steve says

Compassion in the Bible? Clearly he hasn’t read the book. Just like most Christians. Even the NT is full of horrible, immoral and inhuman ideas such as vicarious redemption and eternal torture

  2. says

Rev. Worley should be tied to a chair and made to watch the films the Allies shot at the end of WWII, of the Nazi concentration camps they liberated. Maybe then he’ll see just what his viciously hateful words inevitably lead to.

  3. says

    Biblical compassion? Ha. Ha. Ha.

    – Noah’s flood- everyone dies
    – Sodom and Gomorrah- everyone dies
    – Passover- all first born sons die
    – and so on

Christians worship a genocidal maniac who stuck his invisible penis inside a teenaged girl to impregnate her with a son who he already knew was going to be executed.

  4. Dale says

From a religious stand point, if it is not one of the top 10 commandments or the 8 beatitudes from the sermon on the mount that are “Agenit”. So then Biblically speaking god is NOT “Agenit”.

  5. Laurie says

I feel lucky that I was able to email the awful “pastor” yesterday before they disabled his email address.

And, Homer, comments like yours are totally unnecessary (the invisible penis one). It makes us all look bad.

  6. Simon says

    1) Many people say ‘God hates gays’ and keep using the word ‘God’ not ‘Jesus’. The fact is Jesus Christ NEVER CONDEMNED HOMOSEXUALITY and Christ is the God for Christians. Some may then say God is the Father, but there’s no such religion of ‘Godian’ , ‘Fatherian’ or whatever. So for people to still believe ‘God hates gays’, either those people are taking GOP as ‘GOD’, (GOP are indeed one of the biggest bigots and of course the false ‘God’), or those religious nuts are worshiping a different ‘God’ other than Jesus. Either way homophobes bigots are not true followers of Christ but ANTICHRIST rather as they share a different view of belief from Christ and chose not to follow his commandments.

2)In the religion Christianity, the believers are followers of Christ and it’s clearly stated by Jesus that His top 2 commandments are above all other biblical laws and they should follow those. The top 2 commandments are to love God and to love your neighbor as yourself. So again, religious nuts just like pharisees, are ANTICHRIST who are obsessed with all others nonsense religious laws which they put as higher importance to those of Jesus top commandments! Jesus condemns such religious nuts just as He condemned those pharisees.

  7. Simon says

Some people say ‘God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve’. Well the biggest joke of irony is Adam and Eve were the GREATEST SINNERS OF THEIR TIME, CONDEMNED, BANISHED AND KICKED OUT BY GOD from the garden of Eden! Outch !!

What could have be worse if God were to create Adam and Steve ? :)

  8. Bryan J Blumberg says

    Laurie, I agree with Homer.

God has a lascivious mind and is also mass-murderer.

  9. Oz in OK says

And here we go… let’s remember that this ‘sermon’ came from North Carolina. The anti-Gays WON in North Carolina. Marriage Equality is all-but impossible there now, and even Civil Unions (for straight couples!) are now banned. So now, the victorious anti-Gay evangelicals have smoothly moved from banning any sort of recognition of Gay and Lesbian citizens’ relationships to banning our very EXISTENCE. They’ve done nothing more than ‘move the goalposts’ – seeing how easily anti-Gay animus flies in North Carolina.

Expect to see more of this insanity. These ‘Christians’ are drunk with power, and now they’re seeing just how far they can take it.

  10. Caliban says

It’ll be interesting to see if the “good” reverend addresses the media interest in his sermon.

    WWJE Who Would Jesus Exterminate?

Though of course his words are evil and appalling, I can’t help but believe that the net effect of wide exposure this “sermon” is receiving will be “good for the gays.”

In fact I’m wondering if this isn’t one time that homophobes like Tony Perkins SHOULD be invited onto news programs and asked about this minister and his sermon. I would expect he’d repudiate this man’s words, which would be a perfect time to ask him EXACTLY how his own message and actions are any different, other than just being more media-savvy.

  11. Wdeanis says

@Simon I get that you’re arguing semantics here, but in Christianity there is very little separation between God and Jesus. The two are inseparable and the holy spirit, to complete the trinity, is transcendent. You can’t pit one against the other

  12. mcNnyc says

How is this not domestic terrorism?
    Ok help me understand?
Because he spoke them in a “church” with the title of pastor or preacher before his surname?
If they were spoken in a mosque or town hall at least we know that all sorts of agents would swarm on this organization.
Look at the Occupy Movement? Unions?
Not even the IRS will investigate this mans or any number of his fellow “pastors” who openly DARE the IRS to challenge their tax free status.
When you call for concentration camps and genocide of US CITIZENS how is that not terrorism?

  13. Michael says

The Fundamentalist movement lines up perfectly with the early days of the Nazis. It’s a bit disturbing to see them inch even closer now.

  14. jomicur says

What Worley advocates is perfectly consistent with the way the Christian church has treated gay people for virtually all of ts 200 years. Anything pro-gay in Christianity is a VERY recent development.

  15. Caliban says

Yet if you ask them, it’s THEY who believe they’re under attack!

The so-called “war on religion” really boils down to “we’re victims because we can’t force our religion on other people or have our religious beliefs codified into law!” For several years Fox News tried to invent a “war on Christmas,” the premise of which was that stores had the audacity not to exclusively use their preferred holiday greeting.

  16. Hollywood, CA says

That’s exactly how they talked… I’m sorry, still talk about Black people… why is this even a surprise?

  17. jamal49 says

@LAURIE @HOMER is not far off the mark. The whole christian myth is based upon deistic rape. God impregnates a young, virginal woman against her will (she eventually submits, but hey! This IS God here and what God wants…) and, damn it all, God does NOT marry her. God gets a surrogate husband to cover up God’s misdeed. So much for the sanctity of marriage.

There is nothing wrong with pointing this out to the christians. Homer may have done so just a little more bluntly, but give me a break, Laurie. You watch this video of that pastor and you’re worried that a crude comment about an invisible penis “makes us all look bad”?

I’d say your priorities and sensibilities need to be reexamined, Laurie. That pastor is inciting hatred and violence against LGBT people. I’ll be damned if I’m going to hold back anything I might say regarding such ignorant and barbaric vitriol from a so-called christian pastor.

  18. simon says

In some European countries like UK, his speech is possibly against the law. Unlike the US, they really learned a lesson in the last war and more sensitive to this kind of speech by lunatics.

  19. Stefan says

I don’t understand why some commenters are trying to make this a war between gays and Christians. The fact is that according to most surveys many Christians–and a majority of most denominations–support gay civil rights including marriage. And most lawmakers in this country? Christian. So maybe we can put on our policy hats and recognize that (1) this guy is part of the lunatic fringe of Christianity, just like there are some in the LGBT community who are rather frighteningly anti-Christian or heterophobic, and (2) it’s going to be Christians who gain us federal and state civil rights in our lifetime. You can play the “all Christians are idiots/nazis/crazy” card all you want, but it gains you nothing and in reality you’re dealing with a small vocal minority.

  20. LFB says

@Stefan then why are we continually thwarted and vexed? Our lawmakers are not insane like this…thing, but they most certainly are *not* wholeheartedly on our side.

@Simon God and Jesus are “one in being” (John 10:30, 14:9-10). Further, Christians do worship God, but do not in the strictest sense worship Jesus. Worshiping anyone other than God is a heresy.

@Homer all of your examples are Old Testament, so according to Pauline doctrine, they may be irrelevant.

Jesus did preach compassion, love for one’s fellow humans, and humbleness, but he also said this: Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household (Matthew 10:34-36), a sentiment echoed in Luke 12:51-53. So can you really say this preacher isn’t upholding Christian values? You can’t without impugning the integrity of the biblical text.

  21. Laura says

What an illiterate, stupid fool. He is aware that gays are born of heterosexual unions isn’t he?

  22. Laura says

What an illiterate, stupid fool. He is aware that gays are born of heterosexual unions isn’t he?

  23. says

Boy I just thought that white people was so GAY FRIENDLY after all. Look at how many of you guys criticize Blacks over homophobia!

Clean up your own damn backyard before coming into ours!

  24. John says

@ Homer: loved it, dead on. And I want to know if this church will lose its tax free status? This church is being used to rally a group of people AGAINST another…how is that acceptable after what we have learned from mankinds genocidal past? Why can’t religious people just be happy loving the lord, living their lives and leaving others alone? These religious people scare me

  25. Jack says

Religion is the root cause of all wars. As to those quoting the bible. It was not written by God or Jesus. It is a collection of books written by old white men; the same old white men writing North Carolina laws.

  26. says

Genesis 1:28, God bans gay marriage recorded in Genesis 1:28, “God blessed them, saying: ‘Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it‘” It meant God created human on earth for carry out His purposes, and “al” human must comply with His commandment, for multiply and filled the earth with people. Same sex sexual intercourse did not and never conceive baby, it meant their sexual activities work against God’s commandment, prevent fill the earth with people.

Genesis 19: 1- 26 recorded God rained down sumptuous fire upon Sodom and Gomorrah [from the LORD out of Heaven] burned entirely two cities! Lot’s wife disobeyed God, looked back, and she was turned into a pillar of salt.

Some day, the American must be punished for their grave sins of committed and support same gender sexual activities!
