After years of watching The Devil Wears Prada and Sex and the City and preferring the products of Habitat and Ikea to Adidas and Puma, you finally acknowledge that there may be trouble ahead. What to do, though? Even if you tell your parents gently that you are having issues with your sexual identity, you know that they will either pretend they didn't hear you or that you should seek counsel from the parish priest. You might as well tell him that all this time he thought you were human you were really a horse. If he's not actually gay himself he'll simply say: "Take two paracetamol and lie down until the feeling goes away."

Towleroad-roadicon ... and what about Microsoft and Apple?

A handful of advocates, armed with nothing more than their keyboards, have put many of the country’s largest retailers, including Apple, Microsoft, Netflix and Wal-Mart, on the spot over their indirect and, until recently, unnoticed roles in funneling money to Christian groups that are vocal in opposing homosexuality.

The advocates are demanding that the retailers end their association with an Internet marketer that gets a commission from the retailers for each online customer it gives them ... a share of the commission that retailers pay is donated to a Christian charity of the buyer’s choice, from a list that includes prominent conservative evangelical groups like the Family Research Council and Focus on the Family.

  1. WHY do you insist on giving the Palin family free publicity ? They don't actually care about politics - they just care about free publicity which keeps people interested and means they can keep getting TV contracts for millions of dollars !

Let's ignore them - let them fade back into obscurity. This white trash family has made enough money from us.

  2. Penn State have removed the statue because of public opinion. They have not permanently removed the state - they have just put it "into storage" meaning they will bring it back again once they think people have forgotten about the child abuse scandal. They are a disgrace. The statue should be melted down, sold and the money given to a children's charity.

  3. Where and how did that tiny child pick up that word? (Was God watching?)

So Willow and Bristol Palin are getting paid to show the world how dreadful, inept, and narcissistic they are, and how they are f*cking up their kids (too)?

I'd like to know what companies advertise on their reality show so I can boycott them.

    This stuff is simply Wrong.

(They are not even embarrassed enough to edit out this sequence. They are OK with showing the world their tiny kid already has learned the word "f*ggot.")

  4. Hey, call me whatevah ya want. Just be sure to call me when DOMA is repealed, Obama is re-elected, the End of Days are near and there's a new Ab Fab episode. Till then, I'm in the bunker. Happy 2013!

  5. Remember how Sarah Palin became angry when Rahm Emanuel used the word "retarded," which is now considered pejorative? I wonder how she feels about her grandchild using such language?

Nevertheless, the Palins are just a pack of trash.

  6. While Kevin Rudd was indeed Foreign Minister at one point, and undoubtedly held many other jobs in his long political career, you should probably highlight his most important position, and refer to him as the ex-Prime Minister. It's like referring to Bill Clinton as the ex-governor of Arkansas.

  7. You stay classy Palin's! They will know try to say they are the victims in 3..2..1

  8. Bristol Palin is a black homophobic woman!!! Black women like her teach their children to be homophobic!!! Why are they like that???

  9. The "news police" ICEBLOO is on guard again.

  10. 1. good riddance to Paterno and his statue. His apologists make me sick - how lovely that folks care more about a man's commitment to college football rather than his utter cowardly negligence that allowed a child-rapist to go on raping more children. the man was not an outstanding upstanding good guy - outstanding upstanding good guys report child-rapes to the police. scratch that - DECENT HUMAN BEINGS report child rapes to the police.
A statue of him is an insult to human decency. And for what it's worth - i don't want to see any statues of Roman Polanski or Richard Wagner out there, either

    2. The Palins. Wow. White trash family passes on trashiness to their offspring. Quel Surprise. The word must be said a LOT in the kid's presence - these words don't come out of thin air. What a lovely family. May they get stuck on an ice floe and go out to drift.

    3. Bachmann. Ugh. Wow, she's anti-Islam. Duh. The woman is insane and caters solely to the stupidest bigots in America.

  13. Actually ICEBLOO, I want to know about it. They said it on a nationally televised TV show. They need to be called out on this and should be held accountable.

Icebloo or whatever name you will use next: you do not speak for everyone. You do not get to determine what is newsworthy. Towleroad can provide the info and individuals can decide if they want to read it or not. This is America.

  15. Why not boycott Target and Best Buy???

How far behind the times are you guys? We did boycott Target and Best Buy over their MN election contributions back when it actually happened? Why are you bringing it up now????

  16. For those in countries where it's blocked, I'm in Mexico and was able to watch it here: http://www.dailymotion.com/embed/video/xsao82_tripp-saying-faggot-to-his-mother-bristol-palin-and-willow-on-life-s-a-tripp-reality-show_shortfilms

  17. I demand to see Grover Norquist's birth certificate. If I'm not satisfied of its authenticity then I'll drown him in a bathtub.

  18. Seriously, is anyone surprised by these white trash scumbags teaching little kids this kind of language?

    Posted by: Dale | Jul 22, 2012 7:25:34 PM

  19. Why is this a surprise? Yeah, it's offensive and grotesque, but not a surprise. They're hillbillies, for crying out loud.

  20. The Palins in their trailer rearing another generation of know nothings.

But McCain and the Republican Establishment chose Palin to run; they put forward a homophobic illiterate glove puppet who can't hold down a job, can't read, won't learn and just wants money, money, money.
It says all we need to know about the Republican Tea Party.

  21. Umm, that whole online Charity Giveback Group incident happened last year - and both Apple and Microsoft dropped their support as soon as it was brought to their attention money was being donated to FRC and FOF. Seriously did you do any research at all?

  22. Oh Great. A NEW reality show featuring White Trash, her White Trash Mother and Sister and Her White Trash Baby. What's the show called... is it "White Trash" by any chance?

    Posted by: pdxblueyes | Jul 22, 2012 8:52:56 PM

  23. Target is nothing like Chik-fil-a. Target gave money to a pro-business lobbying group. According to their website, that group wants tax, spending, and education reform. Unfortunately, that group then gave money to a homophobic candidate. From what I read, Chik-fil-a gives money directly to NOM and other hate groups.

Thinking that Target and Chik-fil-a are equally complicit is a vast over-generalization. I have no problem with people boycotting Target...provided they fully understand the series of events that create the controversy.

  24. Microsoft endorses marriage equality. Gates and Ballmer each donated $100,000 to Washington United for Marriage which is fighting for marriage equality in the upcoming election. Apple donated $100,000 in opposition to prop 8. Target apologized and did the best it could to fix it's mistake. And you guys are questioning what the difference is with that and what Cathy from Chick-fil-A said? Are you serious? If that's the way we treat our allies, it's a F***ing miracle we have any. If you want help from corporations you either need to support our allies or hope that you are not as important as you think you are.

  25. Although it might seem odd that Ms. Bachmann would link Grover Norquist to the Muslim Brotherhood, it should be noted that Mr. Norquist and other like-minded conservatives were actually reaching out to the Muslim-American and Muslim immigrant communities for several years prior to 9/11. Norquist felt that Muslim-Americans were a natural for the Republican Party: they were socially conservative, distrustful of government, they were very much into creating small businesses and they had a strong belief in self-reliance. 9/11 ended that outreach.
