Florida GOP Running Ad To Smear Obama-Backing Crist: VIDEO

CristDNC

Now that former Republican Florida Gov. Charlie Crist has endorsed President Obama's reelection campaign and announced he will speak at the Democratic National Convention, the politico's former GOP allies are targeting him in a new ad.

The commercial, called "How Conservative Are You, Charlie?" and running in Florida, features Crist lauding his own conservative credentials and palling around with the likes of Dubya and Sarah Palin.

From CNN:

"If many Democrats thought Clint Eastwood's speech was a bit odd, wait till they see Charlie Crist – a man who has built his career bashing virtually everything President Obama and the Democrats stand for, including the President's spending programs and ObamaCare – debate himself," Republican Party of Florida Chairman Lenny Curry wrote in a statement.

"Charlie Crist may try to use the Democrats' national convention as his latest attempt to shed his political skin, but the RPOF intends to make sure the people of Florida and the nation remember his words and record," he added.

  1. Charlie Christ couldn't even defeat an up-and-coming Marco Rubio in 2010 race for the Senate. Funny how someone who was the governor of Florida got his butt handed to him by the voters from that state.

His endorsement of Obama means nothing, as his own political career is over and done with.

  2. "His endorsement of Obama means nothing, as his own political career is over and done with."

I have read comments from Floridians who like him and want him to return as Governor.

  3. I think this ad only works to highlight the refusal of the RNC to compromise, and instead shows the DNC as the party of reason and dedication to getting things done. Which is fine by me...

  4. The Dems are smart for using him because many swing voters and independents in Florida like Christ and the hard-core conservatives in that state aren't voting for Obama anyway. The Florida Republican Party's mistake is that they are using primary election strategies in the general election.

  5. Anybody left or right recognizes a political whore.
I do want him to return to politics as a Democrat. And I want a primary opponent for him who is openly gay. It would be KARMA while he campaigns around with the beard. Is he divorced yet?

  6. Oh, it's going to be awkward. If he pulls a Jim McGreevey "I'm a Gay American" speech, that would be terrific though. That would really liven up the convention.

  7. I just hope the DNC knows what they are doing. We can't afford a Clint Eastwood moment.

  8. Florida prospered under Crist. It hasn't done so well under the current governor, Rick Scott.
