Towleroad Talking Points: Bill Kristol and Other April Fools

PHOTO OF THE DAY: A shot of glimmering New York by night

A look back at today's top stories

In what seems like something out of a terrible April Fools joke, a pre-pubescent little boy was spotted trolling hate out in front of a LGBT-friendly church on Easter Sunday in North Carolina. In an equally embarrassing display, conservative pundit Bill Kristol thinks that GOP members who have recently announced their support for gay marriage are pathetic. He also mentioned that 20-somethings "don't know anything." Well we know not to listen to you Bill!

A Republican chairwoman from Georgia believes that gay marriage will lead to widespread fraud. She's also quoted as saying that gays don't have "the equipment to have a sexual relationship." This lady needs to do some internet research. And a Baptist preacher sees a relationship between North Korea wanting to nuke us and gay marriage and the Boy Scouts

Meet The Press spent some of Sunday discussing gay marriage with a wide-ranging panel that included Al Sharpton, Rob Reiner and NOM wingnut Brian Brown. Vikings Punter and gay-rights advocate sat down with Anderson Cooper to discuss the possibility of an NFL player coming out and had a message for all anti-gay football players

The Human Rights Campaign apologized today for it's mistreatment of queer immigrants and trans activists during last week's historic arguments at the Supreme Court. Also check out this powerful open letter to the Supreme Court from a gay couple with three adopted kids

Musicians Eve and Cobra Starship have teamed up to sing a song for bullied kids. Bill Cunningham, The New York Times'  man-on-the-street, has announced that a men's fashion revolution is in full swing.

And the White House has a special April Fools Day message for us!

Men's Fashion Revolution in Full Swing, Says NYT 'Man on the Street' Bill Cunningham: VIDEO

There's a men's fashion revolution underway from '30s styles to a revival of grunge and mouth grilles, says NYT man on the street Bill Cunningham:

"There's something in the air and it's all being reflected not in women's clothes but in men's clothes...It's very easy just to laugh and pass it off as 'oh this is just going along with gay marriage and all this, they can dress any way they want' but it's much more than that. Much more than that. The peacock is emerging. He's been a sparrow since mid-Victorian times."

FOX News Host Complains About Amount of Media Coverage Given to Marriage Equality: VIDEO

FOX News host Jon Scott suggested media should have given less time to marriage equality last week saying that "three or four percent of the population is actually gay."

Meanwhile, Media Matters reports, FOX News' coverage of the SCOTUS hearings was barely there.

Little Kid Tells LGBT-Friendly Easter Sunday Churchgoers That Gays are Worthy of Death: VIDEO

North Carolina's Green Street United Methodist Church announced recently that it would stop performing marriage ceremonies until gays and lesbians can marry too. Over the weekend, a fundamentalist group trolled the church, led by a very, very shrill child.

Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) Comes Out for Marriage Equality

Saying, "As a senator and as a citizen, I can no longer in good conscience take a position that denies her and her family the full measure of equality and respect," Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) is the latest U.S. Senator to evolve on marriage equality, in an interview with Philadelphia Gay News:

Casey“After much deliberation and after reviewing the legal, public policy and civil-rights questions presented, I support marriage equality for same-sex couples and believe that DOMA should be repealed,” Casey said in a statement exclusively first released to PGN Monday afternoon...

Casey said he attributes his evolution on the issue in large part to feedback from LGBT Pennsylvanians and their families.

“These stories had a substantial impact on my position on this issue,” the senator said. “If two people of the same sex fall in love and want to marry, why would our government stand in their way? At a time when many Americans lament a lack of commitment in our society between married men and women, why would we want less commitment and fewer strong marriages? If two people of the same sex want to raise children, why would our government prevent them from doing so, especially when so many children have only one parent or none at all?”

Casey had previously backed civil unions for same-sex couples and opposed consitutional bans on same-sex marriage. He has also supported ENDA and 'DADT' repeal.
