Georgia GOP Chairwoman: Gay Marriage is 'Unnatural' and 'It's All About a Free Ride' for Fraudsters

Georgia GOP Chairwoman Sue Everhart warns the Marietta Daily Journal that gay marriage is not right because same-sex couples "do not have the equipment" for a sexual relationship. She also says the whole thing is a set-up for heterosexuals who lie about their sexuality to pretend to get gay-married and collect the benefits.

The Marietta Daily Journal reports: Everhart

“Lord, I’m going to get in trouble over this, but it is not natural for two women or two men to be married,” Everhart said. “If it was natural, they would have the equipment to have a sexual relationship.”

Everhart said while she respects all people, if same sex marriage is legalized across the country, there will be fraud.

“You may be as straight as an arrow, and you may have a friend that is as straight as an arrow,” Everhart said. “Say you had a great job with the government where you had this wonderful health plan. I mean, what would prohibit you from saying that you’re gay, and y’all get married and still live as separate, but you get all the benefits? I just see so much abuse in this it’s unreal. I believe a husband and a wife should be a man and a woman, the benefits should be for a man and a woman. There is no way that this is about equality. To me, it’s all about a free ride.”

Everhart also wants those gays kept away from children:

“You’re creating with this child that it’s a lifestyle, don’t go out and marry someone else of a different sex because this is natural,” Everhart said. “But if I had a next door neighbor who was in a gay relationship, I could be just as friendly to them as I could be to you and your wife or anybody else. I’m not saying that we ostracize them or anything like that. I’m just saying I’m against marriage because once you get the gay marriage you get everything else.”

  1. NOM must be circulating this benefits abuse line as a mandatory talking point, because it's popping up everywhere. I'm sure there are much stupider arguments against gay marriage, but this one is pretty close to the worst. Why wouldn't the straight guy marry a woman with a government job to get the benefits? Hard to picture all these deprived straight guys who won't partake of benefit fraud with a woman, but are waiting for gay marriage so they can risk the wrath of their closed minded friends and family by pretending to be gay for the rest of their lives to get these benefits

  3. So what's to stop me from marrying my well-paid, great-benefits lesbian friend? It would look like a "straight" marriage on paper, and I could get all those bennies. What a great idea, you ignorant, bigoted, self-righteous, arrogant cow.

  9. What a crazy line of reasoning! Everhart says that if we allow same-sex couples to marry, straight folks are going to take that opportunity to jump into sham marriages? Let's be clear: they already have the opportunity to enter into sham marriages with members of the opposite sex.

And its hardly reasonable to expect same-sex couples to live without legal protections simply because of the risk of straight folks taking unfair advantage of the system!

  10. She had one brain cell when she was 5. It fell off and landed in the dirt. She then tried to wash it off in the kitchen sink. Drying it with a Mommy's blow-dryer wasn't smart...and it blew off the table and flew out the window. Haven't seen it since. It's really tiny now, too, because it shrunk. It will be really hard to find.

  11. Is this real or is this an April Fools joke? I have a hard time believing someone is this misinformed...actually I can believe it

  12. Someone needs to school these ignorant people about homo sex so they would know that our equipment actually fits together in quite a remarkable way. Why, it's almost as if it was designed by some divine creator.

  13. She should have just taken an ad in the paper to announce she's a bloated, ignorant tw*at. It would have achieved the same results but been much more concise.

  17. GAWD it's tough down here in this red state with ignorant cows regurgitating NOM's lies and stupidity.

  18. And this is why leaving it up to the states is a stupid idea, even though that's what the Supreme Court is likely to do.
It will be decades before marriage equality will come to the Bible Belt States, not with people like this still in power.

  19. "I’m just saying I’m against marriage because once you get the gay marriage you get everything else."

Ms. Everhart, please define "everything else." If your recent idiotic statements don't get you booted, maybe the next ones will.

  20. Of course two men or two women could get married for the benefits. Men and women have been doing it for years. What's the difference? there's a well known (in the classical music world anyway) gay man who married his mentor so she could leave her estate to him. That was perfectly legal. Where's the uproar over straight fake marriages or gay people marring opposite sex partners for legal benefits? It's a nonsensical argument and shows just how desperate bigots have become to justify their own anti-gay bias.

  22. Considering all the bigots that are obsessed with the way gay people have sex, it's interesting to meet one that has no conception that we have all the equipment we need to get it on with each other.

    Posted by: Jack M | Apr 1, 2013 10:29:50 AM

  23. The only "equipment" needed is a heart.

    Posted by: Kevin B | Apr 1, 2013 10:40:56 AM

  24. Well it is so nice for her to go to the effort to pretend to like any neighbors who don't fit her standards. As far as sham marriages, they have been going on for years in the straight community so I see her point that they could continue. But where I'm sorry darlin', is that there are people who's tax dollars you have benefitted from for your whole life who should havereceived their due benefits. If you just pretend to like them as if they were your neighbors, they will pretend to like continuing to pay their taxes, except now they will get the benefits due them. We all win!

Posted by: Hey Darlin' | Apr 1, 2013 10:42:19 AM

  25. "because once you get the gay marriage you get everything else.”

Is "the gay marriage" like the flu or malaria, lol?
