  1. I saw another story this morning about the NRA target that resembles Obama and it bleeds. The word dispicable comes to mind. WE are dealing with the paranoid hard right fringe now with the ERA. They will say, do, spend any amount, anything, to keep any gun control leglislation from being passed.

  2. I will say first, if it was intentionally made to look like the President. It is disgusting....
However, I also watched W burned in effigy on more than one occasion and a film called "death of an American president". Any outrage? Or was it because it is the current prez?

  5. Notice the 'shot up' Zombie has brown skin, not green like the one on display at the convention.

Presidents have their effigies burned on a near daily basis. How many presidents have been burned to death? How many have been gunned down or shot?

Gun violence against our presidents is not exactly uncommon in our time. The last 9 or so presidents... how many have been killed, survived a gun shot or were shot at and missed? I'm counting three. Kennedy, Ford and Reagan.

Hell, Roosevelt (FDR) was sitting next to the mayor of Chicago when he was shot and killed a couple weeks before Roosevelt was to be sworn in as president. Truman survived a plot which killed a White House police officer in 1950.

Go back a bit further, Theodore Roosevelt was shot before a campaign speech during the 1912 election.

The event that paved the way for Theodore Roosevelt to become president was the killing of Pres McKinley in 1901.

This is not a joking matter - I hope the Secret Service looks into this matter.

  7. Ah, so the NRA was in Houston this week. I was wondering where Ol' Lady David Hagatha Hearne was. Well, he better not tell them that he's a homosexual. They'll shoot him.

  8. On second thought...why keep a secret from your NRA comrades. Come out to the good ol' boys in Houston, honey.

  9. On another topic, Donal Og Cusack is the toughest hardest player in one of the fastest most skillful games, no one would be disrespectful to him, in the locker room or elsewhere, believe me !
He has been totally out and hugely supportive of GLBT events.

  10. From the HRC story:

"We hear there was at least one gay candidate in the mix for the slate of positions Obama, but other considerations — including perhaps the damaging perception that the White House could have a “woman problem” — led him to name others"

And from the Italian government story:

"On Saturday, she responded to the criticism, speaking to Italian Newspapers, by saying: ”For once, I would like to see gay associations, instead of ghettoising themselves… say something to condemn the recent spate of killings of women [in Italy]. All they do is defend their own interests”."

So again, we see in these examples further evidence of the pattern emerging whereby gradually but surely, straight women are emerging as the voice of hostility towards gay men......just as straight men are beginning to emerge as our most ardent champions (see reaction to Jason Collins' coming out).

The historic role-reversal is due, of course, to the fact that, for the first time, the idea of gay men actually being respected members of society rather than socially-marginalized playthings of straight women is beginning to be taken seriously.

As I have noted before, the "sympathy" straight women showed gay men in the past was conditioned on the understanding that gay men would continue to be social outcasts, disrespected and totally socially rejected by straight men, and of inferior social status to straight women.

Now that the very real possibility of gay men being accepted and respected AS MEN is emerging, you see straight women feeling threatened by it in a way they never did before.....and beginning to respond accordingly.

  11. The Ryan Phillipe abs pic was such a waste of my time. First, his abs are not much to speak of, second, a flash in this day and age of outright porn- why bother?

  12. Chris Kluwe will survive just fine - a better team will grab him. Hot young man too! And I must just be horny today because I would ;ick Ryan Phillipe's abs (and more) in a flash!
