Watching really terrible people be their really terrible selves can be highly entertaining (e.g. almost every reality TV show ever made). For that reason, gay-themed web series These People is recommended viewing.
Drenched in dry but guffaw-inducing wit, the show, created by Zac Hug and Jamie Heinrich, follows a terrible family who is terrible at being a family. Tired of being labeled “world’s worst people,” three of the family’s ‘children’ try to find help for their mentally ill sibling only to learn just how insane they are in comparison:
The eldest, Todd Bennet (Zac Hug): high strung, unable to keep his boyfriend Josh (Jeremy Glazer) around, with his heart in the right place. The twins, Chuck and Simon (Cameron Miller-Desart): one’s had some mental health issues, the other owns six restaurants. And Jenny: an actress, their little sister (Claire Downs), with a lot of insane ideas…And then there’s mom (Carolyn Hennesy).
These People also sees appearances from Keith Powell, Ben Baur (below) and Jim Rash (Academy Award-winner for Best Adapted Screenplay for 2014’s The Descendants), who co-wrote an episode for the show’s second season.
