Transgender Man Describes How Coming Out To His Lesbian Girlfriend Led to Marriage: VIDEO

Screen Shot 2015-02-12 at 2.34.02 PM

A transgender man shared his touching coming out story with I’m From Driftwood, a LGBTQA story archive, on how he came out as a transgender man to his lesbian girlfriend.

Said Mitch:

"We actually met online, on the site OKCupid. So we had this great dynamic from the start. I was, at the time, really, like, [a] kind of butch - or masculine-identified woman, and she is and always has been - remains - a really feminine-identified woman. It wasn't something, even when I entered the relationship, that I was thinking, 'This is something I need to tell her about me,' it's hard to explain how I had compartmentalized that part of me and just put it somewhere else, and it hadn't come to the fore for several years."

A year into their relationship, Jocelyn’s faith in Mitch gave him the strength to come out to his girlfriend as transgender. Mitch’s coming out was emotional, but Mitch’s courage in coming out led to the two’s engagement and marriage.

A Real-Life Gay Proposal Took Place on the Set of Kelly Clarkson's 'Heartbeat Song' Music Video: WATCH

Last week we posted Kelly Clarkson's "Heartbeat Song" music video, which featured a number of couples and told a tale of how we all have a chance at finding love again after a break-up.

One of the stories was a gay couple who are seen in the clip showing off a set of rings.

The backstory on the clip, which we now know thanks to a behind-the-scenes video, is that Zac Woodward and Chad Laboy are a real-life couple and Laboy got down on one knee and proposed to Woodward for real, on set, and it was shot by the crew.

Woodward is a producer for the "Woody and Jim Show" on Nashville radio station 107.5 The River.

Screen Shot 2015-02-07 at 8.48.22 AM

Actress Lea DeLaria (aka "Big Boo" from Orange is the New Black) announced her engagement to fashion editor Chelsea Fairless on Facebook yesterday - accompanied by a photoshopped image of the couple with Michael Jackson and Elizabeth Taylor.

Wrote DeLaria:

Despite their concerns about the patriarchal confines of marriage, actor / singer Lea DeLaria & editrix Chelsea Fairless of Brooklyn, New York are pleased to announce their engagement. No date has been set for the impending nuptials but it's safe to say that it will be the event of the season, or a total shit show.

E! reports the two met two and a half years ago through actress Emma Myles, who plays Leanne on the hit Netflix show.

"We definitely have a few ideas. Sandra Bernhardtwill be marrying us. She's a very close friend and she's an officiant," DeLaria said. "And Jesse Tyler Ferguson will be my best man. We go way back."

Congrats ladies!

Michael Sam Confirms Engagement To Vito Cammisano

Last week we brought you news of unconfirmed reports that Michael Sam was engaged to marry his longtime boyfriend, with whom he shared the kiss seen 'round the world, Vito Cammisano.

Today, Sam confirmed those reports on Twitter by sharing a picture of him proposing to Cammisano on bended knee with what appears to be the Vatican in the background. The photo proves correct earlier speculations that the two got engaged while on holiday in Italy.

Sam's tweet tagged Cammisano and was captioned "Thank you for saying yes", followed by three diamond ring emojis.

Cammisano posted a follow-up photo with ring on hand:

Congratulations to the happy couple!

Tiffany Celebrates (And Advertises To) Gay Couples: PHOTO

Tiffany & Co. is grabbing people's attention with more than their little blue boxes lately. The iconic jewelry retailer has launched a new engagement ring ad campaign that targets gay male couples and also features an actual gay couple (as opposed to relying on models). The company released a statement to ELLE Magazine heralding their first campaign focusing on same-sex love and marriage:

"Nowadays, the road to marriage is no longer linear, and true love can happen more than once with love stories coming in a variety of forms," said Linda Buckley, Tiffany & Co. VP of North American PR, in a statement to "The Tiffany engagement ring is the first sentence of the story that a couple will write together as they create a life that is deeply intimate and exceptional, which is the message we hope to convey through this campaign."

The picture of the handsome couple in Tiffany's ad, who thus far have remained anonymous, also features a romantic and wistful caption sure to give any sap (yours truly included) a case of the "aww"s:

"Will you promise to never stop completing my sentences or singing off-key, which I'm afraid you do often? And will you let today be the first sentence of one long story that never, ever ends? Will you?"

Tiffany is not the first retailer to feature actual gay couples in its advertisements. You'll recall Banana Republic last year featured the stylish duo of Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent in a series of ads focused on "showcasing true relationships."
