Democratic lawmakers in North Carolina have taken the first step to repealing the state's newly passed anti-LGBT bill, HB 2.
On Monday, state representatives filed a bill, House Bill, 946, that would repeal HB 2 if enacted. Passed little over a month ago, HB 2 bans all local LGBT rights ordinances in the state and introduced some of the most draconian anti-trans ‘bathroom regulations' in the U.S. to date.
The bill – entitled “An Act to Repeal House Bill 2 of the 2016 Second Extra Session and to Appropriate Funds to the Human Relations Commission” – was sponsered by Representatives Darren Jackson (D-Wake), Graig Meyer (D-Orange), Susi Hamilton (D-New Hanover) and Grier Martin (D-Wake).
