Herman Cain: Dan Cathy Told Me He's Donating 'Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day' Millions to Anti-Gay Groups - VIDEO

Herman Cain tells FOX News that gay people are protesting Chick-fil-A "since they can’t seem to get enough attention. That is what this is all about."

He also said he spoke with President Dan Cathy, who told him that anti-gay groups are about to get a hefty donation, Think Progress reports:

Cain, who claimed that he spoke with Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy, said that the company’s sales exceeded $30 million during Wednesday’s “appreciation day,” “almost twice his previous high.” “They are going do take a lot of the excess profits they got on that day and contribute it to the charitable organizations they support in even bigger numbers,” Cain added.

  1. Unsurprising.

  2. It just gets better.

  3. One wonders if Exodus International would be able to apply its ex-gay therapy to Dan Cathy to make him an ex-bigot. If so, I would gladly donate.

  4. Chick-fil-a is wasting its money..marriage equality is just around the corner..thanks to our judical system.

  5. Once again. It's always about the freedom of speech thing, never the real issue of giving millions to hate mongers. WTF is up with the press lately? How many have called Cathy the CEO/founder, which he's NOT! And why do I have yet to come across anyone asking Obama about his take on this?

  6. This is what we're up against, boys and girls. Not only do these anti-gays hate us. But they are SMUG, PRIDEFUL AND ARROGANT about their hatred of us and wiping that hatred in our face. Dan Cathy doing this is nothing more than wiping his hatred in our face. Now I better not see any gay person or so-called straight ally defending Dan Cathy, CFA or any homophobe. These people are on complete warpath against our community. They HATE us. And we have to highlight this hatred to greater society, and we have to continue to be outspoken and stand tall against this hatred.

  7. Well well well the republican candidate, who's company had to pay off how many women because of sexual harrassment, speaks.
Hmmmm. Herman Cain has no credibility.

  8. Bill Clinton sexually harassed a lot of women, but that didn't stop him from being a great president.

If you're going to criticize Herman Cain, it might be better to focus on his media whoredom and stupid policy proposals.

  9. That's true, Rob. Herman could easily be lying to stoke the flames.

  10. "Charitable" organizations? Cain is such a damn fool.

  11. Yes, by defending our human rights and being justifiably upset over profits from a company being syphoned to anti-gay groups, we are clearly "seeking attention" just for attention's sake... and this coming from a total media whore. Classic.

  12. These aren't "charitable organizations." They lobby for the execution of gays and lesbians in Uganda, among other things.

  13. A black man celebrating millions being donated to strip gay people of their CIVIL RIGHTS in this country and abroad. The irony is fascinating

  14. Lord I get tired of the media talking to these political has-beens. Who CARES what they think?

    Posted by: Craig | Aug 3, 2012 8:43:42 PM

  15. So how does the black community feel about this? This is horrible on more ways than one. But as been noted, this man celebrating it is even more amazing

  17. This is shameful that he's so joyful about this. As a black man, nothing infuriates me more than my people not knowing their own dang history.

  18. THIS is why this Chik Fil A story is news worthy! They are literally funding to detroy te lives of gay people. And we should be livid

    Posted by: Cortar | Aug 3, 2012 9:03:09 PM

  19. Chik Fil A donating this amount to causes that seek to eliminate us is more newsworthy to me than gay adoption or gay court cases. This hate filled groups money will help faciliatate gay suicides, end relationships and destroy our livelihood. Thats very significant to me

  20. Every gay person owes it to themselves to inform your straight friends who frequent chik fil a that their money is literally going to destroy the rights of their friend. Make them better informed.

  21. Awww look at John defending the. Bigote heteros. What a great GREAT ally he is. Lol what a transparent clown you are John

  22. Now THIS makes me outraged

    Posted by: Stephen | Aug 3, 2012 9:09:43 PM

  23. How can any straight person in good conscience donate money to this establishment knowing it's going to ruin the lives of gay youth, gay families? Its this kind of stuff that turns me into a gay activisit whereas a few years ago I was indifferent. I'm incredibly involved in my communities movement now

Posted by: Scott Johansen | Aug 3, 2012 9:11:44 PM

  24. @ scott
Given the hate campaign the christians have created against us, how can ANY LGBT not be actively involved in activism for our community? We should all do our part

  25. Not that long ago Herman Cain's ancestors were slaves in America to Christians who used the Bible to explain how they could make another human being into a slave by saying that in the Bible God said they could own slaves. Then these same Christians fought a war to keep another human being a slave. Herman seems to forget that it took intelligent men who knew slavery was wrong and who were willing to fight to fee slaves then, had they not fought to free his ancestors Herman would still be a slave today. Lincoln freed the slaves and now it is time for Obama to free the gays.
