In-Your-Face Police Chase: VIDEO

Real or fake? Either way, I'm having deja vu about living in L.A. during these things and having helicopter spotlights drape through my own backyard.

Anti-Gay Seattle Church Moves into 'Gayborhood', Calls it Blessing to Be Closer to Those 'Infected with AIDS': VIDEO

An anti-gay megachurch's move into Seattle's "gayborhood" has offended many of its residents, and its pastor's remarks have only added fuel to the fire, the NY Daily News reports:

MarshillThe Mars Hill Church Downtown Seattle’s new home is blocks from Capitol Hill, which is known locally as the “gayborhood.” The church plans to use the new location as a base to minister to the city’s business people; the homeless; and the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

“Being closer to Capitol Hill is a blessing as we are serving and ministering to those who are infected with AIDS on the hill,” said Tim Gaydos, lead pastor of Mars Hill Church’s Downtown Seattle branch said in a release to KOMO News.

Local LGBT rights organizations are not happy with Gaydos’ statement and its implications. Shaun Knittel, founder and board president of Social Outreach, a LGBT rights coalition, called the comments a “lower form of hate speech -- ignorance speech.”

“What the pastor is saying is that gay neighborhoods equal AIDS neighborhoods, ” Knittel told the Daily News. “That just because you’re gay or lesbian on Capitol Hill, that means you have HIV/AIDS.”

Anderson Cooper Sasses His 'Purebred' Gay Producer: VIDEO

At least, according to Andrew Rannells' definition.

Anderson turned up the sass with executive producer Terence Noonan on his show yesterday when Noonan accused him of being inexperienced with women.

Replied Anderson: "Unlike you, sweetie, I have had a little more experience in other areas other than with guys."

Obama Unveils Plan to Reduce Gun Violence: VIDEO

President Obama has unveiled his gun plan, the HuffPost reports:

Guns_obamaThe proposal, which comes at the end of a month-long review process spearheaded by Vice President Joe Biden, is broken down into four key subsections: law enforcement, the availability of dangerous firearms and ammunition, school safety and mental health.

In an effort to touch on all four of those elements, the president recommended requiring criminal background checks for all gun sales; reinstating the assault weapons ban; restoring a 10-round limit on ammunition magazines; eliminating armor-piercing bullets; providing mental health services in schools; allocating funds to hire more police officers; and instituting a federal gun trafficking statute, among other policies. The cost of the package, senior officials estimated, would be roughly $500 million, some of which could come from already budgeted funds.

Because these recommendations require congressional approval, the administration is supplementing its proposal with 23 executive actions that will be taken immediately. Those actions include requiring federal agencies to hand over relevant data for a background check system; providing law enforcement officials, first responders and school officials with better training for active shooting situations; directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence; and many more.

Insane Video of Last Night's Marriage Equality Hearing in Rhode Island: WATCH

Here's an awesome kid testifying for marriage equality in Rhode Island.

While the religious wingnuts outside in the Capitol...

...are frothing, speaking in tongues, and practically having seizures because the kid's parents simply want to be married.

Check out the video, AFTER THE JUMP...

The AP reports:

About 300 supporters and opponents signed up to address the legislative committee reviewing the bill — they were limited to 2 minutes each to keep the hearing from going all night — while hundreds more gathered in the hallways outside the hearing.

Downstairs, a raucous rally of gay-marriage opponents beneath the Statehouse rotunda at times drowned out those testifying in the third-floor committee room.

The Providence Journal reports: "The committee voted at the start of the meeting to hold the bill for further study. A vote to send it to the House floor could happen next week at the earliest, said House spokesman Larry Berman."
