Outgoing Kentucky governor Steve Beshear has said the state will recognize marriage licenses altered by county clerk Kim Davis.
Earlier this year, conservative poster child Davis became an unintentional comedy figure after she refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples because of her religious beliefs.

Currently on her fourth marriage, she spent five days in jail for refusing to obey a federal judge who ordered her to issue the licenses.
Davis later doctored licenses issued in her absence by removing her name.
However, the Lexington Herald Leader reports that last Friday Beshear told a federal judge that despite Davis' efforts the documents meet the state's legal requirements and should be considered valid.
