TROPICS. Tropical depression Nine prepares to come inland: “Although the exact intensity is still uncertain, the NHC expects it to be a tropical storm when it moves inland, possibly a strong one. It's not out of the question that it could be a low-end hurricane, and that's why a hurricane watch has been issued for Florida's Big Bend….After making landfall, the low will track northeastward and impact parts of the Southeast coast Thursday night into early Saturday. This is due to a southward dip in the jet stream in the eastern states that is pulling the system that direction….This weekend into early next week, there is at least some chance this system could affect the Northeast U.S., however details on impacts, if any, are very uncertain.”

AUSTRALIA. Opposition to push for gay marriage reform: “Labor will need the support of 76 of the 150 lawmakers in the lower chamber on Wednesday for debate on its gay marriage bill to start. Labor has only 69 seats, so it will rely on government lawmakers to break ranks from the ruling coalition, as well as the backing of up to five independent lawmakers.”

WHITE LIVES MATTER. Southern Poverty Law Center declares it a hate group: “The White Lives Matter website says their movement is dedicated to the preservation of the white race. That tells you all you need to know,” said Heidi Beirich, the director of the Intelligence Project at the Southern Poverty Law Center in Montgomery, Ala. “They're against integration, immigration. This is standard white supremacist stuff.”

SOUTH CAROLINA. Police find no evidence scary clowns are trying to lure children into the woods. “Many of you have inquired about clowns being spotted in the woods near Fleetwood Manor Apartments. As of today's date, there has been one incident report filed with our office regarding this. I have attached a copy of the incident report for your review. In the report you will note there were two other calls related to this. One call was regarding the clown sightings and the other call was in reference to gunshots being heard in the area. In both calls, the complainants refused to give their names and no incident report was filed. Our deputies did not locate anyone matching the description when they responded. ”

CHRIS BROWN. Singer arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon: “Officers responded to a woman's call for help at Brown's suburban Los Angeles residence around 3 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to an LAPD spokesman. A search warrant was obtained by police Tuesday afternoon and law enforcement officials spent several hours at Brown's residence before he was taken into custody. Brown will be transported to an LAPD jail for processing.”

Vandal etches “fag” into man's car window in Flatbush: “The NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the vandalism, which took place on New York Ave. near Utica Ave. in East Flatbush on Thursday night. The victim told police he parked his 2001 Jeep Cherokee on the block at about 10 p.m. Thursday.”

WILLIAMSBURG. Brooklyn neighborhood stonewalled investigation into beating of black gay man: “Hate Crimes Det. Eric Sanchez said neighbors, landlords and vendors only started cooperating after his bureau sent Jewish detectives to question people about the brutal Dec. 2013 beating of fashion student Taj Patterson.”

CALIFORNIA. Transgender man denied hysterectomy: “Evan Michael Minton claims Mercy San Juan in Carmichael refused to treat him because he is transgender. ‘For me, in order to live my most authentic life, this is what I need to do for myself,' Minton said. Minton said he needs to have a hysterectomy three months before a phalloplasty. The hysterectomy was scheduled months in advance and everything seemed fine. He said they were “already pushing it close” because his phalloplasty was scheduled for Nov. 23.”
