Daniel Radcliffe Amused He's Got a 'Gay Face'

Radcliffe

In an interview with Moviefone, Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe demonstrates yet again what an evolved lad he is when asked about Dumbledore's status as a gay wizard icon:

"It's wonderful. I grew up around gay people my entire life, basically, that's possibly why I'm quite camp, and some people think I'm gay when I meet them, which I think is awesome. It's always good to keep them guessing [laughs]. I don't go on any blogs or chats or anything, but my friends are demons for them, and apparently someone said 'Daniel Radcliffe is gay. He's got a gay face!' [Laughs] I really don't know what a gay face is. But I think it's wonderful that Dumbledore was outed as gay ... Half of me thinks Jo Rowling just did that to see if she could piss off the right wing, but I'm not sure how true that is. I think she had it planned, I think she always knew he was gay."

Barack Obama Likes Dumbledore, But Offers Him His Privacy

Back in January, Obama got some attention when he revealed how much he loved HBO's The Wire, and that his favorite character was Omar:

Dumbledore"I gotta say Omar’s a great character. That’s not an endorsement. That is not an endorsement. He is not my favorite person. But he’s a fascinating character. He’s this gay gangster who only robs drug dealers, and then gives back. You know, he’s sort of a Robin Hood. And he’s the toughest, baddest guy on this show, but he’s gay, you know. And it’s really interesting. It’s a fascinating character."

Now, in a new interview about his kids, Obama reveals his fondness for another gay character, though this time around he's not so open to talking about the character's sexuality:

"His favorite Harry Potter character may be Dumbledore (he won’t comment when it’s mentioned that the headmaster of Hogwarts may be gay.)"

JK Rowling on Dumbledore: Homophobia is a Fear of People Loving

Rowling

JK Rowling addressed Dumbledore's homosexuality in a recent interview with Scotland's Edinburgh University student paper. In the interview, Rowling says "So what?" to those who disagree with a gay character in a children's novel.

DumbledoreSays Rowling: "It is a very interesting question because I think homophobia is a fear of people loving, more than it is of the sexual act. There seems to be an innate distaste for the love involved, which I find absolutely extraordinary. There were people who thought, well why haven't we seen Dumbledore's angst about being gay? Where was that going to come in? And then the other thing was — and I had letters saying this — that, as a gay man, he would never be safe to teach in a school...He's a very old single man. You have to ask: why is it so interesting? People have to examine their own attitudes. It's a shade of character. Is it the most important thing about him? No, it's Dumbledore for God's sake. There are 20 things that are relevant to the story before his sexuality."

Harry Potter Does Drag for Manila Gay Bar

Manila1

Looks like good old Dumbledore has cast a spell!

Harry Potter now works his wand in that schoolmarmish demanding dominatrix kind of way.

BED, a gay bar in the Philippine capital of Manila, has taken a few icons of pop culture and done a switcheroo, dressing Darth Vader in Princess Leia attire, and Superman in Wonder Woman's sizzling get-up to advertise a drag night.

And you thought the Larry Craig doll was gay.

Daniel Radcliffe: Dumbledore "Camping it Up" on Harry Potter Set

Daniel Radcliffe talked to British TV host Michael Parkinson on his talk show Parkinson over the weekend about his film My Boy Jack. Towards the end of the conversation, Parkinson brought up J.K. Rowling's recent revelation that wizard Dumbledore is gay, and asked how it has affected the recently-begun shooting of the sixth installment of the Potter series. Here's what Radcliffe had to say:

Potter_dumbledoreParkinson: And the revelation of course, that old Dumbledore is gay!

Radcliffe: Yeah, I know! That was hilarious!

Parkinson: I know. Does it make a difference on the set?

Radcliffe: [Michael Gambon has] been camping it up around the set like nobody's business. Not in the film. Although we actually did film a scene the other day, and I'd like to emphasize this point that the script was written before this revelation - I don't think [screenwriter] Steve Kloves had any prior knowledge. But there was a scene the other day where Michael had to come in and say to another character and tell him how much he loved knitting patterns..he just adored saying that.
