Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent Welcome Baby Girl: PHOTOS

NATEJEREMIAH

Über design couple Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent recently shared that they have become proud parents, welcoming a daughter, Poppy, into their lives on March 23. The couple married last May at the New York Public Library.

People reports:

“I’ve always wanted to be a parent,” Berkus, 43, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “I had hoped that I would have this chance, but I didn’t want to do it on my own.”

“Until recently, we didn’t think it was possible,” says Brent, 30. “But we’re fortunate to be legally married and things just fell into place. We’re really thankful.”

On March 23, the couple welcomed daughter Poppy Brent-Berkus. Surrounded by the surrogate’s family and their own, “everybody was hand in hand” for the birth, recalls Brent.

“Surrogacy can be about science, it can be about money, or it can be about intention,” adds Berkus. “We were really lucky to have everybody that was involved in allowing us to have our daughter be excited for us.”

Nate Berkus and Fiancé Jeremiah Brent Appear in New 'Banana Republic' Ad Campaign: PHOTO

Berkus

Nate Berkus and his finacé Jeremiah Brent appear in a new Banana Republic campaign called “The true outfitters of modern American style" featuring real-life couples, the NYT reports:

In one ad, the pair is lounging on the grass, Mr. Berkus’s head on Mr. Brent’s midsection. In another ad, the couple is cuddling. In other ads, the pair appears among photographs of the other couples. In the magazines in which the campaign is now starting to appear, including InStyle and Rolling Stone, Banana Republic is the only clothier to present a same-sex couple amid the ad pages.

The paper adds that it is what younger shoppers want:

“Showcasing true relationships,” as the new campaign does, “can resonate more deeply,” Ms. Sadler said, and the appearance of Mr. Berkus and Mr. Brent reflects “values of diversity and inclusion we’ve shared since our early days” as a company based in San Francisco.

There is another reason for the presence of a same-sex couple: The ads are aimed at younger consumers, many of whom regard inclusion and diversity as intrinsic parts of their world views, and the campaign encourages them to join the ranks of the loyal older customers in Banana Republic stores.

TV personality and interior designer Nate Berkus and former Rachel Zoe assistant Jeremiah Brent are engaged, Us magazine reports:

The pair, who have been dating for 8 1/2 months, made it official atop Machu Picchu in Peru on Monday, April 8 -- and are excited for the next chapter of their lives together.

TV personality and interior designer Berkus, 41, was the one to pop the question to Brent during their trip to Peru, Berkus' rep confirms to Us. Brent was completely surprised -- the couple was originally traveling as part of a shopping trip with One Kings Lane for a designer sale project Berkus is working on for the site.

Vincent’s commentaries for World are punctuated by inflammatory characterizations of gays, minorities and liberals that have already provided fodder for Palin’s critics. Among Vincent’s most strident statements were her description of homosexuality as a 'deviant' mental disorder and labeling of President Barack Obama as the 'face of the minority survivor' of abortion, which she dubbed the 'Black Genocide.'"

They're horrible. If we all succumbed to the comfort trap, to dress as if we never got out of bed -- then we should never get out of bed."
