The Horrifying Trailer for Kevin Smith's 'Tusk' is Here: VIDEO

Long

Kevin Smith was supposed to have given up on making movies. After his latest project Hit Somebody languished in development hell and the ever-rumored Clerks III failed to materialize, the filmmaker all but alluded to being content with retirement. Or perhaps not. Smith and Co. have just dropped the trailer for his next major film project, Tusk, due out this September. The idea behind Tusk initially began as a twisted musing between Smith and Smodcast co-host Scott Mosier. The premise: how can we turn The Walrus and the Carpenter into a Human Centipede-esque horror film?

Smith laid out his thought process in detail to The Hollywood Reporter last fall, describing the film as an “old British Hammer horror film:”

For those not playing at home, the podcast episode was inspired by a listing from GumTree.uk, a website that specializes in living situations and apartments to rent. In one memorable listing, a homeowner offers a living situation free of charge -- the only caveat being the lodger would have to dress like a walrus from time to time.

Yes -- a motherf---ing walrus.

The listing was written eloquently and briefly mentioned that the writer had once been lost at sea with a walrus he nicknamed Gregory as his only companion. The author writes of being heartbroken by the separation from the walrus and identifies the whiskered beast as better company than any humans he'd ever known. To this end, the author is interested in recreating the best time of his life with a would-be lodger in a realistic walrus costume standing in for the beloved Gregory.

Justin Long, Haley Joel Osment, Johnny Depp, and Genesis Rodriguez are set to star in the film this fall. Check out the disturbing trailer AFTER THE JUMP...

Double Bearded Jake Gyllenhaal Goodness In 'Enemy' Trailer: VIDEO

J_gyllenhaal

Dubbed a "haunting and provocative psychosexual thriller about duality and identity, where in the end only one man will survive," Enemy pits professor Adam Bell against his exact look-alike, an actor named Anthony Clair. Through a series of improbable events, their lives become entangled after Bell tracks down Clair, and in the end only one will live.

That's not important. What is important is that this is a film filled with 90 minutes of scruffed-up Gyllenhaal, in stereo. The movie is set to hit theaters on March 14th and DirecTV on February 6th.

War, Bling, and Hairless Pecs are Back in Trailer for '300: Rise of an Empire': VIDEO

300

300: Rise of an Empire, the follow-up to Zack Snyder's 2007 film 300, is back with many of the same elements along with bearded Australian hottie Sullivan Stapleton.

The film focuses on Themistocles (Stapleton) and Artemesia I of Caria (eva Green), and explains how Xerxes became 'the God King'.

“If you took ‘300’ and you zoomed out, that’s what this movie is all about,” Murro said at Comic-Con International in San Diego last summer. “It takes place at about the same time as ‘300.’ It’s just bigger and it gives a whole bigger scale and scope as to what happened historically.”

But enough with that. On with the beards and beef, AFTER THE JUMP...

Watch The Trailer For Gregg Araki's New Film 'White Bird In A Blizzard': VIDEO

White_bird

Openly bisexual Japanese-American director Gregg Araki recently released the trailer for his new dramatic film White Bird in a Blizzard which explores the life of a teenage girl following her mother's sudden disappearance.

The film is an adaptation of Laura Kasischke’s novel and stars Shailene Woodley, Gabourey Sidibe, Christopher Meloni and Angela Bassett among others.

You may know Araki from his HIV-road movie The Living End, his "Teenage Apocalypse Trilogy" — all of which featured queer teens living in disarray — his bisexual romantic comedy Splendor or his critically-acclaimed film Mysterious Skin which starred Joseph Gordon Levitt as a gay hustler.

Araki's tenth and most recent release (Kaboom) won the Cannes Film Festival's first ever Queer Palm award for its recognition of LGBT issues during its 2010 premiere. White Bird in a Blizzard will premier at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival this January.

Oh and the song in the trailer, in case you're wondering, is "Sea, Swallow Me" by Harold Budd.
