Chelsea Clinton Grills Rick Warren on Same-Sex Marriage: VIDEO

Clinton_warren

Marriage equality advocate Chelsea Clinton interviewed Pastor Rick Warren on Rock Center last night.

Warren accused Clinton of pursuing a "hidden agenda" when she asked Warren if there's a difference between being able to accept someone's right to marry whomever they choose to, and whether or not he would approve of their choice.

Responds Warren: "What do you expect a Christian pastor to answer? I don't believe the Bible anymore?...Gay marriage might become the rule someday. That doesn't mean it's right."

Rick Warren Compares Homosexuality to Arsenic - 'Not Everything Natural is Good for Me': VIDEO

Rick_warren

Megachurch pastor Rick Warren appeared on Piers Morgan's CNN show last night where he was asked about his attitude toward homosexuality, which he compared to an urge like wanting to punch somebody in the face.

Also, poison:

Here’s what we know about life. I have all kinds of natural feelings in my life and it doesn’t necessarily mean that I should act on every feeling. Sometimes I get angry and I feel like punching a guy in the nose. It doesn’t mean I act on it. Sometimes I feel attracted to women who are not my wife. I don’t act on it. Just because I have a feeling doesn’t make it right. Not everything natural is good for me. Arsenic is natural.

Rick Warren Cancels Presidential Forum Because No One Wanted To Go

RickWarrenInfluential Evangelical Pastor Rick Warren claims he canceled a proposed presidential forum that would feature both Barack Obama and Mitt Romney because it would be "hypocritical to pretend civility for one evening only to have the name-calling return the next day."

"The forums are meant to be a place where people of goodwill can seriously disagree on significant issues without being disagreeable or resorting to personal attack and name-calling," Warren told the Orange County Register. "But that is not the climate of today's campaign. I've never seen more irresponsible personal attacks, mean-spirited slander, and flat-out dishonest attack ads, and I don't expect that tone to change before the election."

According to both Democratic and Republican sources, however, no one wanted to go to Warren's forum because they don't think he's important enough and that's why he really called the whole thing off.

From CNN:

Sources close to President Barack Obama's and Mitt Romney's political campaigns challenged that explanation, saying the event was canceled because of a lack of interest from the respective campaigns.

"As I understand it, Pastor Warren received tepid responses from both camps well before the supposed 'cancellation,'" said a senior Democratic strategist in contact with the Obama campaign.

"It appears that the event was canceled because neither the Romney nor Obama campaigns thought it was in their interest to do," the strategist continued, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss a delicate political matter.

A source close to the Romney campaign said that the former Massachusetts governor hadn't planned on attending Warren's event: “We were never going, ever. We offered to do a video.”

You'll recall that Warren was a larger-than-life figure during the 2008 election, and he delivered the Invocation Prayer at President Obama's inauguration. But that was then and this is now and it now seems as if Warren's influence has completely waned.

Rick Warren Won't Adjust His Position on Same-Sex Marriage Until God Does: VIDEO

Warren

His God, that is.

Rick Warren appeared on ABC’s This Week on Sunday, and Jake Tapper asked him if his church might shift its policy on same-sex marriage as popular opinion shifts on the issue, Think Progress LGBT reports.

Said Warren: "Well, if the Bible is the word of God, then I don’t have the right to change it. Policies come and go over the years. And so if I’m unpopular for certain beliefs, well, then I’m unpopular for certain beliefs. And to me, the Bible is very clear that sex is for a man and a woman in marriage only...history shows that when the church accommodates culture, it weakens it. This is why there is a very weak church in Europe today. It’s almost non-existent in many areas."

The Great Etheridge-Michaels Kiss-Off

  Melissa_tammy

As previously noted, singer Melissa Etheridge filed official papers on Friday to dissolve her domestic partnership with Tammy Lynn Michaels due to "irreconcilable differences." Etheridge is asking for joint custody of their twins and hopes not to have to pay any financial support to Michaels.

Apparently, she did this without notifying Michaels, who took to her blog and cooked up this poem (via Dlisted), after the jump...

The Jonas Brothers joined Pastor Rick Warren as "guest worship leaders" at Angels Stadium yesterday for Saddleback Ranch's Easter service. Warren was a vocal supporter of Proposition 8 in California and has close ties to anti-gay Ugandan pastor and "kill the gays" bill supporter Martin Ssempa, though Warren has spoken out publicly against the bill.
