Montana Democrats Vote Unanimously to Add Marriage Equality to Party Platform

Montana

Montana Democrats have voted unanimously to replace civil union language in the state's party platform with that of full equality, D. Gregory Smith reports.

The new language:

"We support repealing Section7, Article 13 of the Montana Constitution. All adults should have the right to legally marry another adult of their choice regardless of sex or gender. We believe same-sex spouses should have the same legal benefits, protections and responsibilities granted to all those who marryā€¯

  2. Joe My God is reporting that TEXAS' Democratic Party also added marriage equality to their official platform.

I'm pretty sure that that was the Seventh sign of the Apocalypse!

  4. The LGBT Caucus in PA was able to help the Pennsylvania Democratic Party pass a resolution in support of marriage equality at our meeting this weekend. See article here (last part of the article): http://www.politicspa.com/mccord-stands-dems-gay-marriage-state-comittee/36546/

  5. ALEX R, I hope they do more than pass a resolution! It would be HUMILIATING if TEXAS and MONTANA changed their official platform but all Pennsylvania could muster was a resolution.

  6. Well. this is great, I hope it does some good. I miss Montana. Great Falls was an awesome place to live. Most folks I knew in MT really couldn't care less if someone was gay or not & are so against gov't or religion meddling in other people's lives. It's just unfortunate that it's a mostly Republican state.

  7. While it may not be as relevant, I attended the Mississippi State Democratic Convention and we also include marriage equality as part of our State platform and sending one LGBT delegate to Charlotte.
